Washington, D.C. – Each year, the American Academy of Diplomacy honors one outstanding reporter and one distinguished commentator with its Arthur Ross Media Awards for Distinguished Reporting and Analysis on Foreign Affairs.
The 2026 Ross Award in the Journalist/Reporter category goes to Nic Robertson of CNN, whose award-winning career as International Diplomatic Editor has demonstrated courage, journalistic excellence, and sustained commitment to doing critical reporting from the most dangerous and consequential places in the world.
The 2026 Ross Award in the Commentator/Columnist category goes to Nahal Toosi of POLITICO for her outstanding coverage of the rigors and intricacies of international diplomacy and global power politics, and her dedication to in-depth analysis of topics critical to American statecraft and diplomacy that help her readers better understand Washington policymaking.
The Arthur Ross Media Awards are given in honor of the late Arthur Ross and are endowed by the Ross Foundation. They seek to recognize individuals or groups of individuals (e.g., a news bureau) whose reporting and analysis on diplomacy and foreign affairs are making a critical contribution to public understanding of the critical roles played by diplomacy and the media in furtherance of America’s foreign policy. The 2026 Ross Media Awards will be presented at the Academy’s Annual Awards Luncheon on November 12, 2026
